SABC COVID-19 Cases
1. TO: ALL SABC EMPLOYEES
DATE: WEDNESDAY, 03 JUNE 2020
SUBJECT: COMMUNICATING COVID-19 CASES
Dear Colleagues,
Since reporting the first positive COVID-19 case at the SABC, we have noted the increased
anxiety and panic from employees who fear the risk of exposure to the virus in the
workplace. We have revised our initial strategy to share information of positive cases with all
employees. Concerns have however been raised of our lack of communication of the recent
confirmed cases. We would like to assure you that this is not in any way a move to conceal
information.
We have resolved not to communicate globally across the organisation in the manner that we
have, considering the panic and anxiety that this has caused. Hereon communication will be
limited to the affected employees who may be part of the contact list, as well as other internal
stakeholders including management of the area, HR, Wellness and organised labour. We will
share the statics of the confirmed COVID-19 cases with the organisation on a periodic basis.
Please bear with us as we try to eliminate fear and anxiety about COVID-19 but instead instil
a sense of hope.
