“Why hire me” main:
• 1st sentence - “I want to be a X” and then
sentence should be WHY !
• 3-4 paragraphs (Limited to 1,500 characters!)
• What are you interested about / passionate in
(Why do you like tech)
• What can you tell us about you (Why do you
like and what motivates you)
• Why you should be hired (What you can do for
a company)
28. Referees
Referees must be in NZ
● Character Referee is someone that is NOT
family & does not live in the same house. Do
NOT use your “mate”. Try a tutor or lecturer
● Work referees should be a manager or senior
to you.
● Tell your referees that they may be contacted
between M&G and Offers Day.

The bootcamps are lectures and
bootcamps extras are assignments.
The Meet & Greet and interviews are like
exams. You need to prepare for them!”

You have to sell yourself to people to
get a job so start early and get good at

● Introduce a concept that employers have
told us that is important
● Provide opportunities to practice new
stuff
● Find something that you might be
interested in and work on for pet project
● Provide opportunities to network / interact
with Industry
● Change the interview question - “Do you
know X” - “Err. No” into “Yes, I did the
bootcamp on X. Here’s what I learned...”

(especially the job interview related

interested in! Do worry if you don’t
know anyone else there or if you don’t
really know what its about, if it sounds
