The Dakota people lived a seasonal lifestyle, moving locations throughout the year. In spring they collected maple syrup and lived in tipis, in autumn they hunted for food storage over winter, and in summer they lived in tipis and picked wild rice. While seasons brought different tasks, people still relaxed during warmer months before preparing for winter.
