• Interest young adults as they find the plots interesting and
it makes them feel excited and suspenseful
• They normally appeal to 15-21 year olds as they are
normally certificated 15 because of the disturbing content
in a lot of thrillers
• They appeal to both males and females. Males are mainly
interested because of the action and like getting their
blood pumping. Females are attracted to thrillers because
they like to wonder what will happen next

3. Crime Drama
• Aimed at both male and female audiences
• The actors in crime dramas interest the females because
they are involved in the crime which is brave and exciting
and the actresses attract the males because they find
them attractive. – It’s surprising but true about how much
people watch a film simply because the actor or actress is
‘hot’
• Just like thrillers, they are normally certificated 15.
However the audience ranges to a much older audience
as well such as middle-aged people as they enjoy crime-
related films

4. Crime Thriller combo
Now having looked at the audience of both Crime dramas
and Thrillers, I have decided to produce a film opening of
the two combined.
Purely because of the action and tension and bravery
involved in my film opening, I have decided to have an all
male cast. This will be mainly targeting young males of 15-
25 years old because of the exciting and tense content.
However, this will also be targeting a female audience of
the same age range as it will leave them asking questions
and wondering about what will happen next. It will actually
also be aiming to draw in older men who are watching
these kinds of films with their sons.

5. Age Range
I have come to a decision of having mainly 15 - 25 year old
males for my target audience. I’ve taken a combination of the
two audiences from thriller and crime dramas whereby the
younger end of the spectrum is attracted to the thriller side, and
the mid-twenties end is attracted to the crime side of things and
the theory behind things. Another reason I believe this is also a
great age range to choose for my target audience, is because
this is the age gap with the majority of cinema attendees. And in
a real-life film distribution situation, it would be more strategic
and financially beneficial to aim towards 15 - 25 year olds in
order to increase box office revenue.

6. To conclude…
My target audience will be mainly males aged from 15-
25 years old because they will enjoy the exciting and
gripping tension of a crime-thrill-ride.
I was also be targeting females of the same age range
but only because they love to wonder and imagine the
conclusions and answers, and also fathers who are
watching these films with their sons.
