1. ESCATEC installs Microsoft Enterprise Project Management System throughout the company to
help drive growth plans
Heerbrugg, Switzerland – October 20, 2011 – ESCATEC, the EMS innovator, has just installed Microsoft Enterprise
Project Management software throughout the company to increase efficiency in project handling and to enable
ESCATEC to take on more business. Previously, ESCATEC had used Microsoft Project Management software as a
stand-alone application, used in isolation by each Project Manager for their own projects. By moving to the Enterprise
version, all projects throughout ESCATEC’s four facilities around the world can now be viewed simultaneously to
ensure that appropriate resources are in place.
Ismael Stieger, Project Leader at ESCATEC’s Project Management Office, said, “The problem that we had before was
that there was no way to co-ordinate the resource requirements between the various Project Managers. Now, with a
global system, we can immediately see what is going on with all projects at any moment in time and, more importantly,
we can see the resource requirements looking into the future. This even includes projects that have been quoted for
and not yet confirmed. This ability to foresee resources requirements means that we can analyse the impact of new
manufacturing contracts and ensure that we have the appropriate capacity, machines and people in place and avoid
bottle necks and surprises.”
The new software runs on two servers – one in Switzerland and one in Malaysia – to reduce latency. All stakeholders
in a project can continually update their contribution to each project so that there is always a real-time status, meaning
that problems can be identified immediately and the possible resource impact on any other projects managed or
avoided.
“We are delighted with the way that this new Enterprise software has improved co-ordination and efficiency throughout
the company,” added Gerhard Klauser, General Manager at ESCATEC Switzerland “Not only will customers benefit
from all the improved efficiencies, but we can also take on additional business secure in the knowledge that we will not
have any unexpected resource constraints.”
