1. Rod Bollinger (or “King Vibe” one of his many band nicknames) is the leader and founder of
“The Vintage Vibes”. He plays guitar, trombone, lap steel and piano with the band.
His vision of this band came about in 2006. He saw a band that was pure retro class. He
heard and saw a band in his head that played just about any style music from the days of
swing, jump blues, r & b, rockabilly and good old rock ‘n’ roll. It seemed to him the world
needed this band. After much old-fashioned hard work, “The Vintage Vibes” were born.
Rod, a native Texan, grew up with all kinds of music around.
He started playing guitar at age 9 and trombone at age 13. He attended NTSU (now UNT)
and became a professional musician at age 20. He has been in several bands over the years
and has also subbed with many bands. In 1981 Rod helped form a successful band named
“The Party Crashers” that eventually led 4 of “The Vintage Vibes” members back together.
Performing music and entertaining has taken Rod many places around the country and the
globe. He has been a teacher of guitar for over 20 years. He also loves recording in his
home studio or any studio for that matter!
