• Number of visitors to online travel sites has surged 32 per
cent in the last year to 18.5 million visitors a month as more
Indians turned to the web for their travel needs, according
to a study by global research firm comScore.
• According to comScore Media Metrix service, in April, 2011,
18.5 million online users aged 15 or older visited a travel site
from a home or work location as compared to 13.9 million in
April, 2010.
• Indian Railways remained the most visited travel site, with
8.3 million people logging onto its website in the reported

• Travelguru.com started in 2000 .Yatra seems to have made a late entry in the
world of online ticketing. Nevertheless, Yatra.com has been creating enough
waves since its inception.
• Yatra.com offers the following booking services : airline, railway and bus
tickets and reserve hotel rooms and car rentals thought call centre/internet
Travelguru.com offers all the above services except railway & bus.
• Yatra.com has a toll-free customer care number which was not evident on
Travelgurucom’s website. (its shows time limit and not toll free)
• Travelguru.com no user friendly help . Yatra.com good redirection to user
through right input and pop-ups.
25. • Travelguru.com has two flashy advertisement. Two blinking bright
color ads at right which are irritating to the eyes. ( seems they’ve used
Java Script.)
• I ran both the websites on firefox and crome( sorry Microsoft I’m not
an IE fan ) both the websites have pretty much the same look and feel
except for the fact that Yatra’s homepage seems more dominate by
text/content. Perhaps Salman Khan is Yatra’s brand ambassador. Both
the websites have made pitches for “holidays” both domestic &
international. Yatra.com’s navigation menu ( not exactly a menu but
clickable links at the top) are better from the usability perspective.
• On a 256kbps connection a search for Delhi-Pune round airtickets
took 2 seconds on Travelguru.com and on Yatra.com this took more
than sometime. Finally, this was the result I saw on my computer
screen. Although on 3Mbps speed no much difference at all.
