  1. 1. What is lightning?• Lightning is caused by hot air rising and cold air rushing in to fill the space .As the ice at the top of a cloud is bumped about it creates an electrical charge and you get lightning.
  2. 2. • Swimming is dangerous during a lightning storm water conducts electricity.Safety • If you can hear thunder you are at risk of being struck by lightning stay indoors or in a shelter. • If you are in a lightning storm while you are in a car DO NOT touch any metal and you should be safe. • Do not stand under a tree on high ground. • Lightning can pass through the wiring of the phone and can electricute the person talking. • Stay away from over head wires and metal fences.
