• President Johnson couldn’t leave the White House without
enduring anti-war protestors.
• He wanted to serve another term but became more and
more unpopular as the war went on.

•  In the primary elections Joe McCarthy told people he would
  end the war, causing him to win the majority of votes.
• Martin Luther King was shot to death during the time of the
  war so the black community was extremely upset causing
  riots in major inner cities.
      -Police were called to crush riots, people were killed and
                                injured
• Presidential candidate Robert Kennedy was shot.

    • “Today more than one million people suffer from serious diseases, including
    different types of cancer and disabilities, as a result of the spreading of defoliants
    and herbicides, and in particular AGENT ORANGE, which contained large amounts
    of DIOXIN. 200 000 children are now the third generation of victims suffering
    from malformations and severe defects of the immune and the nervous system.”

    • In 1975 Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam fell to the North Vietnamese Army.
    The Communist North finally overpowered the democracy of the South.
