2. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:
 Research objective is an active statement which describes what is
to be achieved by the study and how the study is going to answer
the specific research question
 PURPOSES :
1. Directs the preparation of protocol
2. Facilitate development of methodology
3. Facilitated researcher to focus on relevant variables in study
4. Guides for information to be collected
5. Help in evaluating the research goals achievement

3. CHARACTERISITICS OF RESEARCH
OBJECTIVES:

 Clearly define the sentences
 State complete information about population studied
 Variables should be defined with measurable terms
 Objectives based on identified goals and study purposes
 Objectives should provide direction to the research
methodology and interpretation of research results.
 Objectives should be stated in logical sequence

OBJECTIVES:
 List the objectives in the introduction of research protocol or report
 Formulate the objectives using proper action verbs like – determine,
find out, identify etc
 Objectives can be formulated in quantitative as well as qualitative studies
 In quantitative studies ,objectives are clear, concise and declarative statements that
provide a direction to investigate the variables.
 It focuses mainly on measuring the variables , identifying the relationship among
themselves and determine the differences between to or more groups with reference
to the selected variables.

7.  In qualitative studies,
 Objectives are more complexed and abstract in nature.
 They focus on obtaining a holistic and comprehensive
understanding of the area of the study.
