the body, causing many

Dangerous substances in cigarettes
Health risk from smoking
Lung Disease
Smoking can increase the risk of lung cancer
significantly. In fact, lung cancer is the first cause of
death as a danger to smoking. Male smokers have
an increased risk of lung cancer up to 25 times, and
women have increased up to 25.7 times. Not only
lung cancer, smokers are also at risk of
inflammation in the respiratory tract, such as
bronchitis
Heart Disease
Carbon monoxide from cigarettes takes oxygen in the blood
and causes the risk of developing cholesterol to settle in artery
walls. This effect increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.
One habit that greatly contributes to heart disease is smoking.
Problems with the heart include atherosclerosis and
peripheral arterial disease. Atherosclerosis occurs when
plaque builds up in blood vessels. This plaque buildup blocks
the flow of blood so that it can be fatal.
Smoking during pregnancy can increase the risk
of miscarriage. The baby is also susceptible to
asthma, ear infections, growth disorders, physical
abnormalities, and sudden death syndrome in
infants.
