THE PERSON’S ACTIONS WERE OKAY OR NOT OKAY.

OKAY or NOT OKAY?
Daniel had baseball practice last night and didn’t do his
homework. His friend tells him he can copy his
homework.
This situation is not okay.
The teacher did not tell the students to work together on
their homework. The teacher is expecting Daniel to do
his own work and not copy from someone else. Even
though Daniel’s friend gave him permission, it is still
wrong to copy from someone else.
OKAY or NOT OKAY?

life cycle for her science class. She finds a
report online that is perfect for her topic. Molly
decides to use the report online, but she writes
it in her own handwriting.
Is this situation OKAY or NOT OKAY?

This situation is not okay.
Molly is copying someone’s else work from an online
source. Even though she is writing the information in her
own handwriting, that does not make it Molly’s original
work.
OKAY or NOT OKAY?
Sheena decides to copy an entire webpage into
her book report, but she decides to add her
own first sentence.
Is this situation OKAY or NOT OKAY?
OKAY or NOT OKAY?
Sheena decides to copy an entire webpage into her
book report, but she decides to add her own first
sentence.
This situation is not okay.
Sheena is copying an entire webpage into her
report. She is using another person’s exact words
even though she has added her own beginning
sentence. If Sheena wants to use the information, it
needs to be restated in her own words.
OKAY or NOT OKAY?

website. He decides to use it for a project he is
doing. On Michael’s project, he makes sure to
give credit to the illustrator that actually drew
the picture.
Is this situation OKAY or NOT OKAY?

OKAY or NOT OKAY?

her essay about Jimmy Carter. She decided to
do research on the Internet. She found some
information and decided to copy and paste it
into her essay.

and paste it into her essay.
This situation is not okay.
Lindsay can not use copied and pasted research in her essay.
This is plagiarism. She is using another person’s words and
submitting it as her own. If she has copied and pasted each
word, then none of the information is her original work.
