Why an MBA Will Help Me Advance My Career in Business Development
1. Say
1. Until now I graduated only Informatics.
2. This was what I wanted to do and I started to work while I was a still in university
3. In university I was not taught anything beyond Informatics itself, not things like
what it is to work in a real organization.
4. If I waited to graduate first and then find a job, it would have been much more
difficult for me and I would have had worse job offers
5. What I do now is not what I studied for.
6. What I work now is related to what I studied and my previous experience let me
to this position
7. In the beginning it used to be difficult to be on a business position without any
knowledge on Economics
8. Some time ago I started a masters program of Economics in another university
but the first year I realized it was useless so I did not continue.
9. I still have gaps I need to fill.
10. MBA would give me advantage when applying for good positions in the future
11. Another thing that made me start the MBA program is felt stuck and had desire to
do something for myself.
2. Think
Working while being a student thought him important things he wouldn’t have
learned in university
He wants to develop professionally
A higher degree is competitive advantage
His time is valuable and he does not want to waste it (so he gave up the masters)
First two universities he attended did not teach students everything they need to
know
In the MBA program he is taught more about real world situations
MBA education will help him be better in what he does
During the MBA he will learn what he had been missing so far
MBA gives him access to a new (for him) academic environment
Feel
He can improve himself
He can do more than he is doing now
He will have benefit from the MBA in a long term
He needs to move on in his career
3. Stakeholder is in his thirties with IT education and work background. Works head of
Business Development in an IT company. Currently studying MBA in a foreign
university.
Problem statement
Stakeholder needs to gain new competences which are practical and correspond to
his current job and his desire for future development.
