STEM education operates within the context of a complex phenomenon
or problem, with tasks that require learners to use their knowledge and
skills from various systems(science, technology, mathematics, and
engineering design).

STEAM
Georgette Yakman (2012) is also considered to be the founding researcher and creator
of STEAM Education
STEAM focuses on preparing innovators for life in the 21st century
STEAM is an educational curriculum for learning that takes science, technology,
engineering, arts, and mathematics as the main axes to direct students’ inquiries
through dialogue and critical thinking during experimental learning practices, in order
to solve real live problems not hypothetical situations, and adopt methods of
cooperation in creative works.

6. GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES
National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
National initiative for school excellence (NISE program) aims to improve Stem education in schools
across India. The program provides funding to schools to implement stem focused curriculum and
activities and it also provides training for the teachers. Also, the state governments that are
stemming their way.
India’s STEM mission (ISM) is an initiative of All India Council for robotics and automation (AICRA)
Is driving the ISM objectives based on three pillars.

8. BUILDING STEM READINESS
Designing effective STEM programs in Institutions
supplements the existing curriculum instead of trying to replace it. It needs to have an innovative
approach that goes beyond traditional teaching methodology.
resources need to be invested in procuring STEM models and relevant software, setting up labs,
capacity building of the teachers who will deliver the program and creating opportunities for students
to grow. These key factors will determine the effectiveness of the STEM program
(workshops, science fairs, robotics competitions at IIT Bombay, etc.) were arranged for the students,
