COLLEGE LOCKER REDESIGN
METHODOLOGY
BY,
RAHUL SURESH
ALGORITHM
The Process
of redesign
begins with
the analysis of
the Problem A research on
existing
solutions for
the same is
analyzed
A plethora of
solutions are
generated and
filtered stage
by stage to
obtain a set of
solution that is
feasible and
streamlined
towards
problem
solving
The best Solutions
are tested
simultaneously &
feedback is analyzed
for further
improvements. In
case the solutions
don’t seem to be
working, go back to
solution stage in
order to develop
different concepts
with the new findings
Final

PROBLEM RESEARCH SOLUTION TEST PRODUCT
PROBLEM
The Usage pattern of the existing storage
lockers are analyzed. A few point that I
would note:
1. What are the materials students
generally store in the locker?
2. How frequently students use the locker?
3. Ask students for problems faced? Ask
reasons , if they are found not be to be
using the locker facility.
4. Location and accessibility is to be
studied
PROBLEM RESEARCH SOLUTION TEST PRODUCT
RESEARCH
The existing locker facilities are researched.
A few modes to obtain data:
1. Desktop research
2. Visiting other colleges with locker
facilities
3. Check other the locker manufacturer for
different product he offers

SOLUTION
Brainstorm for solutions or add-ons that
could solve problems that are analyzed in
stage 1.
Combine different solutions and develop a
few options through permutation and
combination of the options.
Use studies in stage 2 as inspiration.

PROBLEM RESEARCH SOLUTION TEST PRODUCT
TEST
Develop the prototypes of the best solutions
and test run it in the college. Ask for feedback
from students (Both positive and negative).
Check for usage pattern.
Analyze the pros and cons of different
prototype and make a the final product that
incorporate all the positive from the different
prototype while eliminating the negatives

PROBLEM RESEARCH SOLUTION TEST PRODUCT
PRODUCT
Final product is
developed for mass
production. Cost of
production is tried
to be kept low by
better engineering.
