The Ecopalooza Project is a non-profit organization with the mission to promote the use of technology and science in the Portland Community through creative thought. Fundraising projects, such as a solar powered concert event, is geared towards raising awareness of the necessity for clean energy. This event's proceeds will assist in launching the project to integrate a local high school into a future eco-friendly environment.
2. WHAT IS THE ECOPALOOZA
PROJECT?
Produce a benefit concert for a non-profit
organization with an environmental awareness
theme.
Our goal is to raise the visibility of sustainability and
alternative energy sources.
Education through a common appreciation of
music by bringing people together from
surrounding communities, who might not normally
interact with each other.
This is our way of giving something back to the
community. At the same time, it supports some
great and relevant causes.
3. Our Work:
BEF’s Solar 4R Schools program matched a portion
of the revenue generated from Ecopalooza with
the proceeds going towards the installation of a
solar panel array at Jason Lee.
The 1.2-kilowatt solar array will be visible to all
students and will be incorporated into the school
curriculum through the comprehensive Solar 4R
Schools education program.
4. testimonial
"The projects at Jason Lee Elementary and
Corvallis Firehouse No. 1 are just some of the
projects that demonstrate our deep commitment
to building a renewable energy future," said Pat
Reiten, president of Pacific Power. "Not only will
these projects help supply renewable energy, but
they are helping teach children and the public
about solar energy. We're proud to be part of the
effort along with our Blue Sky customers."
5. Community Impact:
With this solar installation, Jason Lee Elementary
School will join a network of more than 150 school
projects throughout the country. To date, these
solar arrays have combined to produce more
than 4 million kilowatt hours of clean, renewable
energy.
6. 2012 Project Charter Overview
SCOPE: The scope of the project is broken down
into seven major task groups. These are:
Marketing, Sales, the Beer Garden, Food Vendors,
Site Planning, Volunteers, and Entertainment.
OBJECTIVE: Produce a benefit concert event with
an environmental awareness theme to raise funds.
7. Project Scope Overview:
DESCRIPTION: Ecopalooza is a benefit concert
event, taking place in Portland Oregon with the
theme of raising environmental awareness and
conservation while promoting alternative energy
sources.
The solar powered stage by Solmar is an exciting
pollution free power technology that will yield zero
energy consumption from the city of Portland. It is
an excellent example of using an emerging and
viable alternative energy source. The concept of
“educating while entertaining” is rapidly gaining
popularity; similar events recently put on in other
parts of the country have drawn crowds in the
thousands.

Our mission is to produce fundraising events such as a annual benefit concert and use the proceeds to launch clean energy projects. This change will set an example for other communities to go solar and preserve our climate and future. The initial outreach is to pilot a High School in Oregon to install solar panels.
