Afgelopen week is ook het Swissotel Amsterdam gekwalificeerd met het Quiet Room Label®. Dit certificaat voor stille hotelkamers is uitgereikt in het Swissotel Amsterdam aan het Damrak. Na uitgebreide geluidsmetingen in en om de hotelkamers kregen maar liefst 83 kamers het QR-certificaat van het Kenniscentrum Geluidsisolatie (KGI). Eén kamer voldoet aan de hoogste eisen en is ingedeeld in Klasse I; de overige kamers zijn ingedeeld in klasse III. 'We feliciteren Swissotel Amsterdam met het behalen van het QR-certificaat', aldus directeur Lucas Keizer van het KGI. 'Het is bijzonder omdat het hotel op een drukke locatie in het centrum van Amsterdam ligt en bijna altijd vol zit. Dit laat zien dat het heel goed mogelijk is om hotelgasten ook op rumoerige locaties een stille kamer te bieden.' Het Quiet Room Label® is een initiatief van het KGI en bedoeld als stimulans voor de creatie van stille hotelkamers en als houvast voor reizigers die op zoek zijn naar zo'n kamer. Geluidsoverlast is de meest gehoorde klacht onder hotelgasten en er zijn nog maar heel weinig hotels die echt stille kamers hebben. Op www.quiethotelroom.org kunnen reizigers een stille hotelkamer met het QR-label vinden en direct boeken. Hotels die het Quiet Room Label® willen verwerven, kunnen het KGI hun kamers laten doormeten. Al naar gelang de mate van geluidsisolatie worden de kamers ingedeeld in één van 3 klassen. Voldoen hotelkamers niet aan de eisen, dan kan het hotels aanvullende geluidsisolerende maatregelen nemen om alsnog het QR-label te verwerven. Swissotel Amsterdam is een populair hotel in het centrum van de hoofdstad en kende de afgelopen jaren een bezettingsgraad van 97%. 1. Official Quiet Room Label® goes to Swissotel Amsterdam
Last week the official Quiet Room Label® for silent hotel rooms was awarded to Swissotel Amsterdam,
located at the Damrak. After extensive testing in and around the hotel rooms, no fewer than 83 rooms
have acquired the QR-certificate of the Knowledge Centre Sound insulation (KGI). One room meets the
highest standards and has been classified in category I; the other rooms are classified in category III.
'We congratulate Swissotel Amsterdam with the acquisition of the QR-certificate,' said KGI-director Lucas
Keizer. 'It is very special because the hotel is situated at a very busy location in the centre of Amsterdam
and is nearly always fully booked. This shows that it is absolutely possible to offer hotel guests a quiet
room even at noisy locations.'
The Quiet Room Label® has been created by KGI with a view to stimulating the development of quiet
hotel rooms and helping travellers looking for such rooms. Noise is complaint No. 1 among hotel guests
world wide and there still are very few hotels which offer really quiet rooms. On www.quiethotelroom.org,
travellers can find and book a quiet hotel room carrying the QR-label.
Hotels wishing to acquire the Quiet Room Label® can have their rooms tested for sound proofing by
KGI. According to the level of sound proofing, rooms will be classified into one of 3 categories. If hotel
rooms do not meet the requirements, hotels can take additional sound proofing measures in order to
acquire the QR-label.
Swissotel Amsterdam is a popular hotel in the centre of the Dutch capital and over the last couple of
years it has had an occupancy of 97%.
