Positive Psychology in Action Quentin E. Dinardo, PhD
Dr. Dinardo’sapproach is based on the principles of positive psychology:   This differs from traditional thinking employed by many psychologists which concentrates on treating weaknesses. That school of thought proposes that attention must be focused on treating weaknesses before addressing the pursuit of success and happiness.  The approach of positive psychology emphasizes building on our strengths. I have experienced far greater results with my clients in this manner, defining affirmative goals and developing the Personal Force to achieve them.  You do not deny your weaknesses, but place them in context, to be tackled only to the extent they are perceived as barriers to achieving desired goals. One of the first steps we will take is to assess where and how you deploy your energy:  Most of us waste enormous amounts of energy, like air leaking from a tire, on negative preoccupations such as worry, doubt, resentment, anger, fear and procrastination.  In a very real sense, my approach strives to recapture this valuable energy and express it positively in pursuit of your goals, whether personal or professional.  Energy
Putting positive psychology to work in your life is not about becoming a head-in-the-sand pollyanna.  Not at all.   I will challenge you to build upon your strengths to achieve more with your life.   My Personal Force method, based on positive psychology, is designed to help you strengthen your capacity to draw on your talents to realize your potential.   It doesn't mean deny your problems: It means learning not to be dissuaded by the obstacles we inevitably encounter on life’s journey.   I believe that each of us has a calling.   My objective is to help you pursue that calling, or what I prefer to call your Path to Mastery.  I believe this is what gives meaning and purpose to your life, what some might call living your dream.
