MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (MIS)
Management Information Systems (MIS) not only include software systems, but the
entire set of business processes and resources that are used to pull together information from
functional or tactical systems. Data is then presented in a user-friendly and timely manner so
that mid and upper-level managers can use it to take the right actions. The entire system is
designed so that the company will meet its strategic and tactical goals.
Organizations have multiple functional systems. These usually include sales systems, call
center systems, financial systems, inventory systems, logistic systems and more. MIS
combines information from multiple systems. This helps management staffers better
understand their own departments' contributions. In many cases, the combination of data,
such as sales figures combined with available inventory, help the manager take the
appropriate action in order to meet the customer's needs.
Management Information Systems of CBL:
The Management Information Systems which is used in CBL is known as Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP).
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is the finest expression of the inseparability of business
and information technology. ERP can help business enterprises gain a competitive advantage
by integrating all business processes and optimizing available resources.
Typically, ERP systems include, Financials, Supply Chain Management (Procurement,
Inventory and Stores Management, Sales and Distribution, etc.), Manufacturing, Plant
Maintenance, Human Capital Management (Human Resources, Payroll, Benevolent Funds,
etc.), Project Management Systems, which work with each other in an integrated systems
environment. It is not possible to think of an ERP system without a sophisticated information
technology infrastructure.
12
E.R.P
TukaTech
H.R.I.S
P.I.S
In CBL ERP system is combination of three different software namely Purchasing
Information Systems (PIS), Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), and Tukatech
which are posturized blow in Fig.
P.I.S is used by Production ant their supporting Departments, H.R.I.S is used by H.R
Department, and TukaTech is used Textile (CAD) Department for Jeans designing. About 4-5
years ago Gurber was used by the firm fir designing instead of TukaTech, then they switched
to TukaTech because it saves extra 2% yarn then Gurber.
13
Flow of Information:
In the subjected Firm the flow of information (in CBL known as package of hard and
soft data) is in following way:
In CBL orders are placed at Marketing Dept., then Marketing Dept. sends to Textile
(in textile dept. information flows from Cotton>Fabric>Spinning>Weaving dept.) and
Finance Dept. for invoice and financial record. Finance Dept. sends it to Supply Chain dept.
After Textile dept. package is passed on to Apparel Dept. (Cutting >CAD > Sewing>GWP >
Packaging), and then at the final stage product is shipped to the customer and delivery report
with package is sent to Supply Chain Dept. And again to Marketing Dept.
And supply Chain Department also oversees all activities within, outside the organization like
production process, order placing, customers, supplier’s, and vender’s activities etc.

Pay Roll System:
Recruitment Dept. conducts interviews and sign ups candidate data like name, age,
address, father name, qualification, post, department, salary, and etc. with batch no. and
refers this data to Pay Roll Dept. (HR). P.R Dept. applies further processes for example
issues code no and makes a folder with reference no of the candidate for his identification
within the firm.
After this P.R (HR) sends this data to P.R (Finance) for further formalities. Then the receiver
Dept. creates their accounts against their Name and reference no which was issued by P.R
(HR) Dept. and sends its information to Financial Dept. and to the candidate.

Cash Ratio 0.0137211 0.0018998 0.0015641 0.00326077 0.00273163
Weakness:
Account receivable turnover shows the liquidity of receivables, it shows decreasing
trend which is negative sign for the company. The account receivable turnover in days has an
increasing trend which shows that company this is also a negative sign for the company.
The company has negative working capital which represent that the fixes asset of the
company is financed by current liabilities. The cash ratio of the company is very small that
represent that company’s short term debt ability is very low. The cash ratio of the company is
very small that represent that company’s short term debt ability is very low.
There is communication gap between management and workers, in fact workers are not loyal
toward the firm. The workers and lower management employees are not properly trained and
guide. And their salary packages are not attractive.
Strengths:
The organization is completely independent manufacturing firm; it takes cotton as input
and gives output in the form of garments, fabric, and yarn. Quality is the main factor for the
success of any organization. That’s why CBL is ISO 9001 certified company for his quality
19
products. CBL is having its own power generation plant. So can’t be affected by energy crisis
faced by the industry now days.
CBL enjoys first movers in that industry. So is much developed and well reputed in the
industry internationally. LEVI STRAUSS is the most renounced brand of jeans, and CBL is
the biggest manufacturer of LEVI STRAUSS in Pakistan yet. The industry is quiet expensive
to enter for any new comer, especially in the current scenario of economic and energy crisis.
Chapter # 7
CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation:
It is finally concluded that CBL management is working in a more focused and formalized
manner. However, to achieve their objectives successfully on the International standards, the
following suggestions are offered:
 The CBL should also take interest in the local marketing to increase the profit.
 The company must decrease the finance cost, so That it increase its net income.
 The company must decrease the short term borrowing from the bank because it
charges high interest.
 The company must make the process of collecting receivable quick so that it has
enough cash to pay its short term liability as it come due.
 As the turnover rate is very high, the management should look for the reasons and
take effective steps to overcome the causes and not only the symptoms.
 The company must make his account receivable collection policies good enough so
that it collects it trade debts.
 Employee’s loyalty could be capture with the help of 4-Drive Theory (2002), Harvard
Business Review by Nohria et al.
Conclusion:
The Crescent Bahumam Limited is on the way of progress. It has been earning profit for the
last five years. The management is professionally qualified and experienced.
The Crescent Textile Mills should motivate their employees by providing different
incentives. Their salary package is also not attractive.
20
CBL product is of high quality. The demand of CBL’s products is increasing with the passage
of time. The company is expanding its capacity to satisfy the demands of their customers.
Management of the company is trying to improve more and more to earn profit and improve
the economy of the Pakistan.
In last I conclude from the financial analysis of the company, which the company has to face
difficult time due to economic condition of our country but in recent two year the company
began to earn high profit from export.

  • 11. 11 Chapter # 3 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (MIS) Management Information Systems (MIS) not only include software systems, but the entire set of business processes and resources that are used to pull together information from functional or tactical systems. Data is then presented in a user-friendly and timely manner so that mid and upper-level managers can use it to take the right actions. The entire system is designed so that the company will meet its strategic and tactical goals. Organizations have multiple functional systems. This helps management staffers better understand their own departments' contributions. Management Information Systems of CBL: The Management Information Systems which is used in CBL is known as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The account receivable turnover in days has an increasing trend which shows that company this is also a negative sign for the company. The company has negative working capital which represent that the fixes asset of the company is financed by current liabilities. The cash ratio of the company is very small that represent that company’s short term debt ability is very low. The cash ratio of the company is very small that represent that company’s short term debt ability is very low. There is communication gap between management and workers, in fact workers are not loyal toward the firm. The workers and lower management employees are not properly trained and guide. And their salary packages are not attractive. Strengths: The organization is completely independent manufacturing firm; it takes cotton as input and gives output in the form of garments, fabric, and yarn. Quality is the main factor for the success of any organization. That’s why CBL is ISO 9001 certified company for his quality
  • 19. 19 products. CBL is having its own power generation plant. So can’t be affected by energy crisis faced by the industry now days. CBL enjoys first movers in that industry. So is much developed and well reputed in the industry internationally. LEVI STRAUSS is the most renounced brand of jeans, and CBL is the biggest manufacturer of LEVI STRAUSS in Pakistan yet. The industry is quiet expensive to enter for any new comer, especially in the current scenario of economic and energy crisis. Chapter # 7 CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION Recommendation: It is finally concluded that CBL management is working in a more focused and formalized manner. However, to achieve their objectives successfully on the International standards, the following suggestions are offered:  The CBL should also take interest in the local marketing to increase the profit.  The company must decrease the finance cost, so That it increase its net income.  The company must decrease the short term borrowing from the bank because it charges high interest.  The company must make the process of collecting receivable quick so that it has enough cash to pay its short term liability as it come due.  As the turnover rate is very high, the management should look for the reasons and take effective steps to overcome the causes and not only the symptoms.  The company must make his account receivable collection policies good enough so that it collects it trade debts.  Employee’s loyalty could be capture with the help of 4-Drive Theory (2002), Harvard Business Review by Nohria et al. Conclusion: The Crescent Bahumam Limited is on the way of progress. It has been earning profit for the last five years. The management is professionally qualified and experienced. The Crescent Textile Mills should motivate their employees by providing different incentives. Their salary package is also not attractive.
  • 20. 20 CBL product is of high quality. The demand of CBL’s products is increasing with the passage of time. The company is expanding its capacity to satisfy the demands of their customers. Management of the company is trying to improve more and more to earn profit and improve the economy of the Pakistan. In last I conclude from the financial analysis of the company, which the company has to face difficult time due to economic condition of our country but in recent two year the company began to earn high profit from export. 4-DRIVE THEORY:
