What is Wordle?

Wordle is an web-based tool that creates “word clouds”
from text that you provide. The clouds give greater
prominence to words that appear more frequently in the
source text. You can tweak your clouds with different
fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you
create with Wordle are yours to use however you like.
Helpful Hints ...

-retype the words you wish emphasized 2 to 3 times than the other words to
  make them stand out

-Use a ~ between words to group words together such as We~The~People

 -Look through your font choices

-Under layout - you can determine the maximum word usage
Creating a word cloud ...

Write, or paste a paragraph of text in the word box.
Then select go and watch your cloud form.
Customizing the cloud ...
Personalizing the cloud ...

Choose a color Choose a layout for your
                scheme for the wordle words

  Choose what
   language Choose a word font
Randomizing ...

                   By Selecting ‘Randomize’
                   you are allowing Wordle
                     to choose the layout,
                  colour, language and font
                   of your word cloud. You
                   may continuously choose
                  ‘randomize’ until you find
                     a style that best suits
                               you.
What to watch for ...

Wordle will take out unnecessary words, such as connecting words( ex. the, then, after
etc.) However, Wordle will not notice subtle differences in the same word, and therefore
treat that word as two separate subjects (see below).
Screen shot ...

When using the Mac computer, you will then need to take a screen shot of
the “word cloud” so that it can be saved as a jpg. This will allow for you
to display your wordle in Google Sites, a word document, etc.

* Have the wordle open in a window

* press shift + command + 4

* your arrow becomes a cross ... drag and select the area
to capture image of the screen. Press the space bar.

* The image will save to your desktop as ‘picture’
