Buddhism and Chief Seattle
1. Chief Seattle’s Prophecies – Are they coming True? “Continue to contaminate your bed and you will one night suffocate in your own waste.” (Press Enter to Start)
2. Advice given by Chief Seattle I AM A SAVAGE AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND How the smoking iron horse can be more important than the buffalo that we kill only to stay alive. WHAT IS MAN WITHOUT THE BEASTS? If all the beasts were gone, Man would die from loneliness of the spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected.
3. Advice given by Chief Seattle TEACH YOUR CHILDREN TO RESPECT THE LAND For the ground beneath has the ashes of our grandfathers. That the earth is our mother, And whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of earth. THIS WE KNOW: The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood which unites a family. Our God is the Same God
4. Chief Seattle’s Conclusion The earth is precious to Him and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its creator. Contaminate your bed and you will one night suffocate in your own waste.
9. According to Buddhism If Humans sustain themselves at the expense of Others It is wrong For non-human life is as divine as human life. All Life is One and as animals are considered to be traveling towards enlightenment just as man is they are not to be harmed, discouraged or hampered in their progress.
