Julia Andreevna Efimova
is a young and talented
Russian swimmer.
At the age of 21 she is
already an honoured
master of sports of Russia
and a bronze Olympic
champion.
3. The Early Years
Julia was born оn 03 April 1992 in
Grozny. When Chechenskaya war
started her family had to move to
Volgodonsk . There she started
training in one of the sports schools.
Her father, Andrey Efimov, became
her very first coach.
A few years later she moved to
Taganrog to continue her trainings
under supervision of a famous
Russian coach Irina Vyatchaninova.
4. The First Achievements
• Julia became a European champion
in breaststroke three times – in
2007, 2008 and 2010.
• She competed for Russia at the
2008 Beijing Olympics and came 4th
and 5th.
• In 2008 Julia was awarded the titles
of The Best Russian Swimmer and
Discovery of the Year.
5. A Bold Move
Since March 2011 the athlete has
been spending most of her time in
the USA. She is trained in California
by a world-class coach David Salo.
Although she lives in America, she
still competes for Russia!
6. What a Career!
• At the London Olympics in 2012 Julia won a bronze medal in
the 200 m breaststroke and became an Olympic champion.
• In the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona she won three
gold medals and set a new world record in 50 m
breaststroke. Now she is a world champion as well!
