2. Kabaeva is Russia's
second most
successful rhythmic
gymnast with two
Olympic
medals, 14 world
championship and
25 European
championship
medals.
3. The beginning
Alina was born on the 12th of May in 1983 in
the family of sportsmen. So, that was no
wander parents got her into sport. At the age
of three she started doing gymnastics.
4. At the age of 12 Alina
went to Moscow to the
best gymnastics trainer Irina Viner. Viner took
the girl but only with one condition:
she must lose weight. Alina
even got a funny name
“TV with legs”.
5. The star way
In 1998 the 15-yearold Kabaeva won the
European
Championships
in Portugal. At the
time she was the
youngest member of
the Russian squad.
From that time Alina
Kabaeva started her
brilliant sports career.
6. She completed her
career at the 2007
Season.
Since 2005 Kabaeva has
been a member of
the Public Chamber of
Russia. And now Alina
Kabaeva is the depute
in Russian Duma. She
takes an important
part in the life of
Russian Sport.
