Most Significant Changes process: steps

Session 1) I explain: what stories do we want?

Session 1) You write your stories

In between) Translation

Session 2) In groups,

you read the stories and select the best

You explain WHY you chose that one story

Session 3) In the big group, present the story you chose

Session 3) Discuss WHY

    5. 5. How to write your story

Write:

a story

of about half to one page

about the most significant (meaningful, remarkable, valuable, good, worthwhile) change

which happened to you or which you know about directly

which is (probably) due to RGDTS

It could be a change within you, other volunteers, individuals, communities, organisations, …!

It could be a change in people's behaviour, or thoughts, or a significant improvement in a town, …!

We do not want “stories” which are lists of achievements like in standard reports.

Parts to your story

Who benefited

“ me!” or: “our volunteer!” or: "male teacher, about 30 years old“ or “school in xyz”

When

How – what lead to what?

What was the change

Why the change is significant

Your name (unless you don‘t want to) / ?„don‘t use this story in RGDTS material“

    6. 6. Misconceptions

No-one is trying to say that everything is as good as in the best stories - It’s about getting a picture of best practice.

It is not a complete way of monitoring or evaluating

It’s not about evaluating individuals - It’s about the impact RGDTS makes

☻
    7. 7. The MSC process : Select ing the best ones

Read each story, together or separately

If your group decides to read the stories out loud and your own story is one of them, make sure you don’t read your own story.

Select the story of the most significant change (through discussion, not through a points system or voting)

Add one paragraph to that story

saying WHY you consider it most significant.

    8. 8. Who are we

Research

Evaluation

Training

qualitative and quantitative

Roma, social exclusion, other issues

[email_address]
