2. MEDALLION SIGNATURE GUARANTEE
If you are administering an estate or dealing with a client who
owns US/Canadian assets and you are required to transfer/sell
the stocks, you will need to obtain a Medallion Guarantee Stamp
before the transaction can take place. The requirements for this
service are strict and must be precisely met for the Stamp to be
provided. IWC have a trusted supplier in the USA who is a
member of a recognised and approved Medallion Guarantee
Stamping Program. They will verify the identity of the executors,
beneficiaries or share owners signing the transfer/sale form and
provide IWC with the Medallion Guarantee Stamp, on your behalf.
US/CANADIAN TRANSFER & SALE SERVICES
IWC can also deal with the full process of transferring or selling
shares listed in the USA or Canada. In dealing with the transfer
and sale of shares in the USA or Canada it is very important that
the requirements are met first time as any incorrect documents
submitted will result in rejection and could considerably delay the
winding up of the assets in an estate. The requirements can be
complicated and time consuming without knowledge of how to
complete the documents that must be submitted to the
US/Canadian transfer agents. IWC can deal with the transfer of
US shares for a very competitive price. These services include IWC
obtaining the Medallion Guarantee Stamp.
BANKRUPTCY SEARCHES
Are you distributing funds from an estate? If so you are required
to run bankruptcy searches on any beneficiaries living overseas
as part of your due diligence. At IWC we can offer bankruptcy

3. OVERSEAS RESEALS OF PROBATE
If you are administering an estate which includes an overseas asset
you may be required to have the UK Grant of Probate resealed in
another jurisdiction. We can arrange for UK Grants to be resealed
through our reliable agents in Jersey, Australia and others.
SHARE VALUATIONS
When dealing with Estate Administration it is important that
Executors or Personal Representatives obtain correct valuations for
stocks and shares to declare to HMRC. IWC can offer assistance
should you require a formal valuation as required for Inheritance Tax
forms or indeed for any other purpose. If required we can also
provide a share verification service for which we would require a
copy of the death certificate and details of the shares that are
believed to be held. These services are also available to private
individuals who may require shares to be valued formally for tax
return or research purposes.
TRANSFER OR SALE OF UK SHARES
Leading on from the Share Valuation service, once the shares have
been valued and the Grant of Probate has been issued IWC can deal
with the Transfer or Sale of the shares on your behalf. The service
includes confirming the shareholding and registering the Grant of
Probate with the UK registrar and, if necessary, replacing any lost
share certificates. IWC will prepare the Transfer or Sale forms needed
to dispose of or move the stock out of the name of the deceased. If
any share certificates have been lost or stolen then the registrar
would charge for their replacement and any such fee would be
recharged as a disbursement on the final invoice.
