The Golden Hour

The golden hour recognises that casualties will have a better chance of survival if they are delivered to definite care (hospital) within one hour of the accident. The golden hour includes the time for the call-out, travel to the incident, extrication, transport to hospital and the time to resuscitate within the emergency department. The golden hour efficiency is affected by the time elapsed until somebody reports the accident, the time for the PSAP to fix the location which, when based on mobile networks, can vary from seconds to several hours depending on the country. The PODIS system automates and, thus, minimises the time to indentify the accident's location.

The difference between 50km/hr and 80km/hr
The PODIS system can reduce road fatalities by automatically notifying first responders of car crashes to minimize response time. It uses a distress signal and cloud-based technology to comply with e-call regulations. Being struck by a car at less than 50 km/hr gives an adult pedestrian less than 20% chance of dying but almost 60% risk of dying if hit at 80 km/hr, highlighting the need for quick emergency response.
Motorcycle safety
Helmet use saves lives and reduces costs associated with motorcycle crashes according to the CDC. An estimated 1,630 lives were saved and $2.8 billion in economic costs were avoided in 2013 due to helmets. The risk of death is reduced by 37% and risk of head injury is reduced by 69% when helmets are worn. Universal helmet laws are the most effective way for states to improve safety and lower financial burdens from motorcycle crashes.
