Editor's Notes
- Me, my wife Terri, my sister-in-law Lynne, and my younger brother Robert
- Driving on the wrong side of the road, and following a cop!
- No Koalas in New South Wales, but plenty of kookaburras!
- Yes, they have 7-11’s there too!
- The new parliament building…
- Questocon-the National Science and Technology Center
- Like the U.S. Capitol of Washington, D.C., Canberra is a planned city, and hometo Australia’s federal government.
- A carillon, or bell tower, stands next to Lake Burley Griffin, man-made by the Chicago architects who designed Canberra in 1913.
- There are a lot of memorial buildings in Canberra. This one is for the Australian and American military…
- That is not a giant whale! It’s Captain Cook Memorial Water Jet, a fountain in the middle of the lake
- Parliament
- Australian Federal Police officer (yes, that’s his bicycle!)
- December is summer-time in Australia, with temperatures in the 90s; protection from the sun’s rays is a must!
- The crest of Australia; the kangaroo and the emu holding a shield with the separate flags for each Australian state.
- The view from Parliament of the OldParliamentbuilding, with the War Memorial in the background
- Pulled the zoom lens back a little bit…
- My favorite place! The Royal Australian Mint
- A newly minted Aussie dollar!
- The AustralianDefence Force HQ
- Looking from the War Memorial towards Parliament
- A mural for all the women of Australia who served in the military.
- Beautiful stained-glass windows adorn the memorial…this is one of a nurse.
- Another view looking towardsthe old Parliament building, with the new Parliament behind it
