1. The myth Children are banned from throwing
snowballs
The reality Every year we hear inaccurate
stories about children who aren’t allowed to
throw snowballs, If we spend time on the trivial
risks there’s a chance we’ll miss the most
important ones.–
A sensible approach to managing risk focuses
on practical action to tackle risks that cause
real harm and suffering.
2. Health and Safety
What happens if I have an accident?
It could be a trip, slip or a fall, a cut or a burn
which probably requires first aid
First aiders are on duty in the college.
It is a good practise to report a near miss.
A near miss is an unplanned event that did not
result in injury, illness, or damage – but had the
potential to do so. "A close call."
How do I report it?
To a lecturer or to a Student Services assistant who can help you fill in the
Accident/incident form. If you notice any hazards or something that could
cause harm please report to any staff member or direct to the health and
safety officer ext 77331 or Email isobel.smith@perth.uhi.ac.uk
