This Good Friday we will look at Jesus' Trial with a fresh perspective... through Jesus' eyes. We will examine each of the men who judged Jesus and gain a better perspective on how Jesus saw them.
5. Trial 1 – Jesus before Annas (John 18)
20 Jesus answered him, “I have
spoken openly to the world. I have
always taught in synagogues and in
the temple, where all Jews come
together. I have said nothing in
secret.
6. Trial 1 – Jesus before Annas (John 18)
21 Why do you ask me? Ask those
who have heard me what I said to
them; they know what I said.”
7. Trial 1 – Jesus before Annas (John 18)
23 Jesus answered him, “If what I
said is wrong, bear witness about
the wrong; but if what I said is right,
why do you strike me?”
9. Trial 2 – Jesus before Caiaphas (Mt. 26)
61 …“This man said, ‘I am able
to destroy the temple of God,
and to rebuild it in three
days.’”
10. Trial 2 – Jesus before Caiaphas (Mt. 26)
64 Jesus said to him, “You have said
so. But I tell you, from now on you
will see the Son of Man seated at the
right hand of Power and coming on
the clouds of heaven.”
12. The Sanhedrin Trial (Mt. 27:1-2)
1 When morning came, all the chief
priests and the elders of the
people took counsel against Jesus to
put him to death. 2 And they bound
him and led him away and delivered
him over to Pilate the governor.
14. The 1st Trial before Pilate (Jn. 18)
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is
not from this world. If my kingdom
were from this world, my followers
would be fighting to keep me from
being handed over to the Jews. But
as it is, my kingdom is not from
here.”
17. The 2nd Trial before Pilate (Jn. 19)
11 … “You would have no power
over me unless it had been given
you from above; therefore, the
one who handed me over to you
is guilty of a greater sin.”
