2. The election commission Nepal is a
constitutional body responsible for conducting
and monitoring elections, as well as registering
parties and candidates and reporting election
outcomes in Nepal.
It was born out of the 1950 A.D revolution in
Nepal, and was established in law in 1951 A.D,
although it has been changed somewhat by law
over time .
The commission was declared by law to be
independent of the government in 1966A.D
3. The constitution of Nepal has made provision
of Election Commission in part 24.

5. The Chief Commission and other
commissioners of the Election
Commission are appointed by
the President on the
recommendation of
Constitutional Council.
6. The term of office of the
Chief Commissioner and
other Commissioner of the
Election Commission is 6
years.
7. S/He should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree.
S/He should be 45 years.
S/He should have high moral
character.
S/He should not be member of
political party after get
appointment.
8. To conduct, supervise, direct and control the
election to the President,Vice-President,
Members of the Federal Parliament, State
Assembly and local level.
To prepare and update electoral rolls.
To hold referendum on the matter of national
importance.
To declare the result of the elections.
9. If s/he give written resignation.
If s/he attains the age of 65 years.
If s/he is remove by President upon the
recommendation of Constitutional Council
for not be able to work.
If a motion of impeachment is passed .
The person cannot be
reappoint in the same post
except for chief
commissioner
