Welcome to SAI Platform’s Spotlight implementation presentation. My name is Nick Betts and I’ll be your voiceover today. I’ve created this walkthrough to help provide clarity of how you can find greater value through Spotlight; I hope you’ll find it useful.
By now you’re familiar with spotlight and you’ve entered your opportunities. You’ve also been using the tool and seen the other opportunities available. You’re ready to engage and are asking yourself, “what’s next?”
Just like in the real world, our virtual spotlight offers multiple ways to meet other interesting people. Because Spotlight lets you know what interests others, the easiest way to connect with others who share your interests is to simply reach out to those people! This may be the most straight forward and direct way of engaging on an issue, but may not be the most efficient, particularly if the issue requires greater industry collaboration or more than a few members are interested in collaborating.
The second way of engaging others is by using SAI Platform as a facilitator. Think of us as your wingman as you explore the many fish in the sea.
Unfortunately, we can’t spend all day playing matchmaker, so the Spotlight Steering Committee has developed some criteria for how we approach potential collaborations. We’ve but these into a convenient checklist. By having project partners work through this checklist, it enables empowerment of a clear vision, laser-focused objectives, transparent timeframes, and agreed-upon budgets. Once this checklist is completed and signed-off by participating companies, it is submitted to us at the secretariat to secure funding for the next step.
Once completed, the checklist can be submitted to the appropriate Working Group Lead. For Crops, it’s either Jenny or myself. This signals the handover of the project from the catalysis phase, in the Spotlight Programme, to the development and deployment phases, through the Working Group.
I hope you are as excited as we are about the great big ocean of possibilities available through Spotlight. Jenny and I are always happy to help you and your colleagues continue using the tool. Our contact details are at the bottom of this slide.
Life really is better together, and we hope Spotlight will help you find partners who share your interests and challenges.
