POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the supervision of the Director of Accounting , the General Ledger Accountant is
responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the organization’s financial records
(general ledger). The General Ledger Accountant will also be responsible for preparing the
agency's budget, and preparation of the monthly financials. The General Ledger Accountant will
work with the Director of Accounting, CFO, billers, and other staff deemed necessary to support
the Department's efforts in meeting the needs of the programs and finding sources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out Mission established by the President/C.E.O. and Board of Director;
Analyze and maintain the general ledger;
Prepare monthly journal entries and adjustments, including supporting documentation
and appropriate descriptions;
Prepare monthly cost allocations, financial statements and bank reconciliations;
Close financial statements on a monthly basis;
Assist with compliance reporting for federal, state, and local agencies;
Prepare and analyze income statement and balance sheet fluctuation schedules for annual
audit;
Responsible for assisting Director of Accounting on special projects; and
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field from an
accredited college or university ;
2-5 years experience maintaining financial records preferably for a non-profit ;

Good knowledge of standard accounting practices;
Knowledge of Quickbooks or other Accounting software, Microsoft Word and Excel are
required;
Organized and detail oriented;
Strong communication (both verbal and written) skills;
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and communicate in a professional manner;
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet frequent deadlines;
Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team;
Must be computer literate and have experience working with databases, word processing;
and programs, spreadsheets, Internet research programs and power point.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed);
Valid California Driver License;
Must have and maintained State required automobile insurance coverage throughout
employment;
Subject to a criminal background check & clearance prior to employment;
TB clearance, to be renewed every two years; and
Post-employment physical & drug screen clearance prior to start of employment.
