Visions & Values
We are aware of the current state of the world,
the destruction of the environment, defor-
estation, contamination of oceans, rivers and
ground water. We are aware that the need of
housing in many places ascend to millions.
Our initiative is simple, create homes at a com-
munity scale that not only respect the earth but
contributes to the well-being of its surrounding
environment.
About
AsaDuru is a Swedish construction and engineer-
ing company working towards creating a modern
and sustainable living standard, focusing on the
African markets. We are doing this by creating
completely self-sufficient buildings, places that
use state-of-the-art technology in harmony with
nature.
The name AsaDuru comes from the Adinkra
saying “Asase Ye Duru”, which means “The Earth
is Powerful”. That is what we at AsaDuru want to
do, use earth to empower all of us.

3. We are creating completely self-sufficient homes at
a community scale, breaking free from the chains of
the current oil, water and waste recycling industry.
This is achieved through our integrated and modu-
lar system solution of rammed earth construction,
rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment and so-
lar energy, together with smart appliances. For each
system, we have partnered up with market leading
companies, leveraging their state-of-the-art compo-
nents and expertise into the community.
Our community uses the planet’s natural resources
and manages them in the most efficient way pos-
sible. We believe that for this relationship to persist
we need to be symbiotic with the earth, creating a
bond of respect and nourishment in the same way it
nourishes us.
Climate Mitigation
Deep climate and ecosystem studies are necessary to assure that
our proposal completely fits in with the local environment,
seasons, weather changes as well as respect the ecosystem flora
and fauna.
It is crucial to build a community understanding of ecosystem
services, human valuation of biodiversity and its importance for
these services. The relationship between ecosystem services and
human well-being is a strong one and must be valued.

Earth Structures Group is a partner of AsaDuru, the largest
rammed earth company in the world with over 1200+ projects
built all over the globe during its approximate 30 years of op-
eration; houses, schools, resorts, wineries, galleries, factories,
churches, a university campus and even a high security jail.
Their work now extends beyond Australia into South Korea, UK,
Israel, China and France.

5. Rammed Earth
Strong and Durable
Together with Earth Structures we
construct rammed earth walls at mini-
mum 300mm thickness, which makes
them load bearing and not in need of
any core filling, reinforcing or other
structural framing.
Rammed earth constructions around
the world are still standing more than
1,000 years later. Examples can be
found all across the globe, from the
Alhambra castle in Grenada in south-
ern Spain, which is 1,200 years old, to
sections of the Great Wall of China and
7-stories high rammed earth residential
buildings in Germany that are several
centuries old.
Maintenance free
Earth Structures rammed earth walls are maintenance free.
There is no need to finish with plaster, wallpaper or tiles,
saving both energy and money during construction and
throughout the life of the building.

Architects choose rammed earth to create beautiful and high-

6. Environmentally Sustainable
Rammed earth buildings are very low in em-
bodied energy since they are often made out
of local materials and during the construction
phase there is little waste, including low use
of wood as the formwork can be removed and
reused. As there is no firing process there are
furher no kilns, toxic emissions or greenhouse
gases.
Because of this, rammed earth has an ex-
tremely low CO2
emission of 8.08 kg/m2
compared to conventional building materials
(160.4 kg/m2
for reinforced concrete homes)
and has been classified as a BREEAM A+
material.
Human friendly
Walls built with rammed earth are non-toxic and
non-polluting, which creates safe and people-
friendly homes. By eliminating the chemicals found
in some conventional building materials and substi-
tuting them with the natural, “breathing” earth walls,
the air quality is improved. This is particularly im-
portant in our time when more and more people are
susceptible to allergies, asthma and other airborne
toxins.
In addition to that, termites and other pests are not
concerned with rammed earth and as the walls are
load bearing, the amount of termite-friendly timber
is low. On top of that, rammed earth walls have a 4
hour fire-rating, making it an ideal option for build-
ings in fire-prone areas.

Smart Homes
Residents of AsaDuru’s community will be using the latest technolo-
gies, integrating all resource systems in an easy, user-friendly inter-
face were they can see and manage all production and consumption
needs. We believe smart homes encourage smart behaviour.

7. Together with Alpha ESS, we leverage a one
of a kind energy storage system which inte-
grates all the units needed in a solar energy
system into one. This way, our users can have
electricity all year round using only an Alpha
ESS unit together with the solar panels. Alpha
ESS have the most durable, environmentally
friendly and secure battery technology in the
world, Lithium Iron Phosphates. The all-in-one
system comes with benefits such as UPS,
while ensuring maximum efficiency and secu-
rity with a neat look and no cluster whatsoever.
Along with the highly intelligent battery
management system (BMS), users can
observe and control the behavior of their stor-
age systems without leaving their seats. All
you need is a computer or a smartphone. This
is the future of energy.

8. With water becoming a more and more scarce
resource, it is important to harvest the water fall-
ing on our roofs.
AsaDuru is providing eco-friendly solutions for
residential and commercial water supply by col-
lecting, storing and purifying rainwater. Our part-
ner’s rainwater collection systems redirect and
store water for both potable and non-potable
uses including drinking, irrigation, laundry, hy-
giene and toilets.
System design range from a simple barrel at
the end of a downspout to a complex potable or
multiple end-use system using a large cistern.
These systems can be incporated into new con-
structions or existing buildings. Besides rainwa-
ter harvesting (RWH), we offer greywater reten-
tion systems.

Perhaps it is the rise in environmental awareness and the public’s desire to protect current
resources; perhaps it is the increasing drought occurrences; perhaps it is the movement to con-
serve and promote sustainability; perhaps it is the desire to reduce stormwater runoff; perhaps it is
to save money by utilizing this free source of water; or perhaps it is a combination of many of these
factors.
Whatever the reason, rainwater harvesting is indeed gaining popularity and can offer a sustainable
alternative potable and non-potable water source. 15

9. The major source of water and food contami-
nation in the world has been, and will continue
to be, unsafe handling of excreta or sewage.
Only a safe handling of these resources, which
is what they really are, will guarantee healthy
living conditions and help control water related
diseases.
KLARO’s advanced wastewater treatment
systems bring domestic wastewater back into
nature without posing any kind of risk. Their
technology achieves what others can’t - reach
values in the treated wastewater that are 70%
lower than required by law. This implies safety
for the future, even if the legal requirements for
wastewater become stricter in the future.
The future-oriented and modular design by
KLARO enables the wastewater treatment
plants to be adjusted over time, if your require-
ments would change.
