PRAYER GUIDE FOR AUGUST
1. Prayer Guide for August 9-15 with Prayer Prompts from Pastor Sue
Adoration: Praise for Who God Is by focusing on one of the names or descriptions of God in the Bible. Matt. 6:9
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.” (Psalm 68:19) We praise you,
Lord, that you are our Burden Bearer, the one who takes the weight of our burdens. We praise you that in
you all who are weary and burdened are invited to rest. (Matthew 11:28)
Confession: Recognizing our continuing need to repent for sin and seek God’s forgiveness and cleansing. 1 John 1:9
Forgive me, Lord, for stubbornly refusing to release my burdens to you. Forgive me for the proud attitude
that makes me think I can handle things on my own. I confess my need of you, my Burden Bearer. I
humbly repent of my pride and self-sufficiency and admit my inability to do anything without YOU!
Offer your confession to the Lord…
Thanksgiving: Thank God for all He has done, direct praise to Him and recognize answered prayer! 1 Thes.5:16-18
Thank you, Lord, for your invitation to release our problems, our concerns, our hurts, our disappointments
– all our burdens – to you. Thank you that you have promised to take the weight of our burdens and that,
in your strength, we will not be overwhelmed. Thank you for providing our Christian brothers and sisters
who share our burdens with us and help lighten the load.
Express your thanks to the Lord…
Supplication: Bringing personal requests and intercession for others before God’s mighty throne. Heb. 4:14-16
We ask you to move in a mighty way this week in the lives of our high school students as they attend Camp
Mayfield. Lord, draw these young people to You. Help them to have the courage and the humility to admit
their need for You. Enable them to totally release their burdens to You, our Burden Bearer. Help them find
freedom and peace through their relationship with You. We ask, too, that you will draw to yourself the
children attending the Summer B.L.A.S.T. Horsemanship and Cooking/Sewing Camps at OCEC this week.
Help them to not only learn new skills, but also come to know You and experience your love in a new way.
Enter the throne room of God and bring your requests before Him with a heart of trust and dependency…
Pray for these OCEC families: (Praying for 20 households this week = praying through the church directory every 9 months!
