My Personal Testimony - James Eugene Barbush - March 11, 2024
Boracay english version
1.
2. Boracay is a small island in the Philippines located
approximately 315 km south of Manila and 2 km off the
northwest tip of Panay Island in the
Western Visayas region of the Philippines.
3. Located in Malay, Aklan, Western Visayas,
Boracay is just seven kilometers long,
and less than a kilometer wide at its narrowest point
– a postcard-sized tropical paradise.
4. Boracay was then called “Land of the Atis” because
the first settlers of the island are the Negritos or Atis.
5. The name Boracay is attributed to different origins. One story says that it is
derived from the local word "borac" which means white cotton with
characteristics close to the color and texture of Boracay's white sugary and
powdery sand. Another credits the name to local words "bora," meaning
bubbles, and "bocay," meaning white. Yet another version dating back to the
Spanish era says the name is derived from "sagay," the word for a shell, and
"boray," the word for seed.
6. Famous for its white, sandy beaches,
Boracay has been dubbed the
“Beach Capital of the Philippines”
7. Having received awards from numerous travel
publications and agencies,
Boracay is the perfect island getaway, with its warm
blue waters, powder-fine white sand,
and a palm fringed 4-kilometer beach.
8. White Beach, the main tourism beach, is
about four kilometers long and is lined with
resorts, hotels, lodging houses, restaurants,
and other tourism-related businesses
9. This makes it a hotspot for
windsurfing and kiteboarding.
In fact, Bulabog Beach is considered
Asia’s top kitesurf destination.
Bulabog Beach, on the eastern side of the island opposite
White Beach, has large waves and strong winds year-round.
10. There’s no shortage of
activities for visitors
at this island paradise.
Visitors may choose to
go
Parasailing...
16. Weather in Boracay is
generally divided into
two seasonal weather
patterns known locally as
the Amihan, from
October to June;
and Habagat seasons,
the remainder of the
year.
17. Partly because of its wind and weather
patterns, tourism in Boracay is at its peak
during the Amihan season.
18. Visitors to the island talk about the idyllic
