3. Saddius, a roman warrior and his army
are about to invade China.
coming after the King as revenge for
theft of the Romans’ gold and jewels
Reaches China at midnight,
successfully breaks into his palace and
dodges the guards, is hunting for king
but cannot find him
Comes across a chamber with a young
lady inside, turns out to be the King’s
daughter – Princess Su Yung
Decides to kidnap her as an attempt to
get the King to do what he says
Saddius enters the chamber, creeps up
to where she is laying
Su Yung feels his presence and
suddenly awakens
He aggressively covers her mouth but
is then stunned by her beauty and
loosens his grip on her
4. With puppy-like eyes he softly whispers “stay
calm, I am not going to hurt you.” His whisper
sent shivers down her spine causing her to knock
over a lantern onto the diamond-encrusted floor.
The loud thud shook the guards who come
running and yelling down the hall. With this
warning, Saddius is forced to leave Su Yung’s
chamber hastily and unfreezing her from his grip.
She shouts “Wait! Whoever you are, you must
meet me at the tea-house midnight. Follow
Yuriko pathway and I shall be there waiting.”
Saddius nods obediently and departs the
chamber just seconds before the guards barge
in. Su Yung screams and the guards notice the
candle-wax bleeding out of the broken lantern,
in which they respond with apologies and order
the maid into the chamber to clear up the mess.
5. Following midnight they meet up, spend
time etc and it becomes a regular habit
The King starts to get suspicious of Su Yung’s
whereabouts and her obsession with always
“going out to get fresh midnight air” but
doesn’t act on it as he loves and trusts his
one and only daughter
However on the way back from gun
training one night, Shanghai – the
King’s top guard, overhears strange
giggling and chatter coming from an
abandoned tea-house
He travels over and takes a look only
to find it is princess Su Yung
fraternising with her father’s enemy Saddius Otho
In utter shock and horror Shanghai
rushes back to the palace and reports
his findings to the king immediately
6. The king is fuelled with anger and heartbreak that his daughter has lied
and betrayed him
Su Yung notices the change of atmosphere and behaviour in her father
and assumes that something isn’t right, thinks her father knows
She meets Saddius in the tea-house following day in all black attire to
hide her identity. She tells him they can’t see each other any longer due
to her father
He replies “No! This cannot be, I am in love with you!”, she breaks
down and says “I will always love you” and then dashes back to the
palace, leaving Saddius confused and in tears also
Next evening he arrives at the tea-house to see she isn’t there which
shocks him as she is usually waiting there first
7. At the palace, the King confronts his daughter and later traps her in the
chamber. He forbids her from going out of his sight again
Meanwhile back at the tea-house, Saddius arrives there at midnight each
day, awaiting her arrival anxiously only to find that she hasn’t shown up
yet again
One night he makes his way back to the tea-house in a desperate
attempts to see Su Yung for the last time. He is overwhelmed to see a
shadow is there waiting for him however as he gets closer he realises it
isn’t Su Yung standing there, it is her father…
8. After Shanghai brutally murders Saddius the king is finally
satisfied with what he has accomplished. He returns back
to the castle not realising Sun Yung is not in her chamber
sleeping. Although he discovers an abondened letter
sitting on top of her bed, “My heart still aches in sadness
and secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no
one will ever know”. The king furiously sends the guards
to find the princess. Suddenly the guards return to the
castle speechless and sorrowful with a scarf grip tightly to
their fists, blood slowly dripping through their fingers.
The king stares in rage and walks silently to his room.
9. Shangai realises later how
much love his daughter had or
Saddius and decides to bury
them together and put aside
the conflict between the
Romans.
