This document summarizes observations from a visit to a grocery store. It notes that the store has warm colors that feel cozy, high ceilings that make it feel open, and friendly staff in matching uniforms. Products like fresh fruits and vegetables are nicely displayed up front, though they are arranged somewhat chaotically. Customers browse casually without clear purpose but most buy something before leaving.
Welcoming Environment and Helpful Staff Create a Positive Shopping Experience
1. Before you Enter
Open doors are much more inviting!
And it somehow feels better when it says "Welcome" in a non-standard font
Environment - directly associates with the value of the products
Warm colors feel warmer and cozier, and black, steel and white feel high quality and price.
High ceiling makes it more light and thus more comfortable and open.
It's quite crowed although doesn't feel bad. Can't hear any music or smell any aroma.
Can't see any security, would never think about them in some stores.
The cashier is at the end…..as always ;)
Personnel - there to help you
Staff absolutely fits into the store image - uniform, colors, way of speaking. Respectable to every
customer, mostly young and responsive.
Observation! personnel at the cashier is extremely nice and helpful; this might be a strategy to leave a
good last point of contact impression on the customers.
Products - fresh, organic, tasty
First products too see are fruits and vegetables - nicely arranged and lit.
The store doesn't explicitly promote its sales items, though makes them visible.
The products are arranged quite chaotically at this store. Small size drinks and impulse items are next to
the cashier.
Customers….match the store
Customers are mostly browsing products without an order. I believe 99% buy at least something. When
in a store you are likely to meet the same person twice.
