Almost everything has an app now days. We bank, order groceries, connect with others, use services and more every day on apps. We want to meet our customers where they are by creating applications to offer specific services not available in our regular library app. Come learn the process TCCL has used to successfully launch two very different custom applications for our customers. Our Build A Reader application, where parents and kids can earn in-app stickers and trophies for reading, get book recommendations based on talk, sing, read, write, and play, and watch videos created by our library staff. Our Summer Reading Program application was intentionally designed for ease of use based on customer feedback for a simple process to signup, track reading, and unlock prizes. We’ll share our tips on how to plan and design an app to meet specific needs, decide if you can build the application in house or contract a developer, generate content, test functionality, marketing to promote the app, and how to navigate Google and Apple app store submissions. Creating custom applications allows you to deliver popular services in a new way to meet the needs of your community, refresh content based on community trends, and keep your library at your customers fingertips.

No one is co-located - our clients are remote and our developers are distributed, and they are not working full time on a single project. This concept was first introduced at a conference held at Dartmouth College, where programs demonstrated capabilities such as playing chess, proving theorems, and interpreting texts. In the early stages, Alan Turing contributed to the field by defining intelligence as the ability of a being to respond to certain questions intelligently, proposing what is now known as the Turing Test to evaluate the presence of intelligent behavior in machines. As the decades progressed, AI evolved significantly. The 1980s focused on machine learning, teaching computers to learn from data, leading to the development of models that could improve their performance based on their experiences. The 1990s and 2000s saw further advances in algorithms and computational power, which allowed for more sophisticated data analysis techniques, including data mining. By the 2010s, the proliferation of big data and the refinement of deep learning techniques enabled AI to become mainstream.
