2. ¿What is it?
The past simple tense is a verb tense used to talk about
things that happened or existed before
1. Indicates an action in the past
2. The main verb of the sentence is always found in the past
tense.
3. It is the only grammatical tense that uses verbs in the past
tense.

3. How can i use it?
• We use it with adverbs of time like "last year",
"yesterday", "last night“ for example: “I bought a car
twenty weeks ago.”
• it is also used to express past customs. For example:
When I was child I used to play piano
• To describe actions,for example
She came home, opened a bottle of water
and sat down
• We can use as a conditional for example, If I had a
million euros, I would go on holiday for one year

4. Regular verbs
• Regular verbs are the simplest to conjugate since their spelling in simple past or past participle is
the same as in the present tense by adding a "d" or "ed" at the end. If the verb ends in a consonant
+ "y", we change the "y" to "i" and add "ed". If the verb ends in "e", we simply add a "d"

5. Irregular verbs
• To form the past simple of irregular verbs, just put the subject, the
verb in the past simple and the necessary complements. For example:
I ate chocolate yesterday. (I ate chocolate yesterday).
