Mistakes that lawyers make about Client
1) Lawyers may ask the client about sensitive question quite frequent which makes the
client feels uncomfortable.
2) Lawyers expect the client knows something which the client’s had no idea at all, thus
both of the lawyer and client understand different things in a different way.
3) Lawyers wrongly interpret the verbal indicators gained from the clients, then directly
judge the client’s cues. Some clients may take sometimes to remember an incidents,
thus, lawyers should not directly conclude that the clients is making up stories.
4) Lawyers impose personal view on the clients conduct, thus stereotyping the client’s
action as it is not lawyer’s role to judge the client’s case.
5) Lawyers used legal terms which client may not understand the meaning. Layman’s term
should be used so that client can understand easily.
6) Lawyers must not scare their clients with the consequences of the case, on the other
hand, advise client accordingly and indicate that you will try your best to provide a good
outcome.
7) Lawyers teach the client about law, not advising their client. Clients only need to know
about the status of their case, not all the legal arguments that will be produce during
trial.
8) Lawyers wrongly address the client regarding their status which may sometimes makes
the client uncomfortable.
9) Lawyers confirmed with the clients regarding the outcome of the case which not yet to
be tried.
10) Lawyers fail to ask relevant question to the client during the interview sessions, thus did
not gain much information regarding the case.
