9. Thank you ARSL members! You all have helped me
make better decisions for our new City
library. Thank you for your guidance and your energy. I
have truly met friends on the ARSL Listserv, people
that understand and appreciate the
sometimes thankless job librarians do and understand
that sometimes just someone to talk to can mean a
world of difference.
I am a proud member of ARSL and can’t imagine not
having this resource. Thank you for what you do and for
making the Association of Rural & Small Libraries a real
thing. There is a need out there and
you have helped fill it.

Some might like to know the story behind ARSL, so briefly touch on this slide.
Just mention that 2 of the popular ARSL benefits are the website and the Listserv. Tell a bit about each. Top image is property of ARSL FLICKR feed obtained by Susan Haggestad, committee member. Large graphic is used with permission from Gina Wilson, the owner/creator.

These are highlights from the 2016 conference. Mention that ARSL can help anyone who wants to estimate conference costs. Also mention that attendees feel that the conference is a great investment and is so affordable with most meals included in the registration. Jodee Bock’s photo used with permission obtained by ARSL (Judy Calhoun). Workshop photo was copied from arsl.info.
ARSL is so affordable! Membership provides access to professional development opportunities, advice from the listserv (‘think tank’, also fondly dubbed the ‘collective wisdom’ ), ample ways to network, round table events, and many ways to volunteer.
Testimonial from someone who is not able to attend conference. Conference is just one of the many benefits of joining ARSL. Tracy Cole has never attended conference, but she believes that ARSL membership is a great investment of her professional development budget. Permission to use Ms. Cole’s image and comments given by Ms. Tracy Cole via email to Gina Wilson.

Presenter will end presentation with a mention of the 2017 conference, and also the website, where membership and conference information is available.
