Advancement of Cost Engineering.
Together with the AACE International Certification Institute, it serves over
10,000 members and certificants in 100 countries.

About CCP
A CCP is an experienced practitioner with advanced knowledge and
technical expertise to apply the broad principles and best practices of Total
Cost Management (TCM) in the planning, execution and management of any
organizational project or program.
CCPs also demonstrate the ability to research and communicate aspects of
TCM principles and practices to all levels of project or program stakeholders,
both internally and externally.

5. Eligibility Requirements
• 8 years industry related experience or 4 years industry related
experience
• 4-year industry related college degree
• 2,500 minimum word technical paper
• Adherence to AACE's Canons of Ethics

6. • 35 direct contact hours (not self-directed training)
• Hours must have been earned in the area of Project Management
practices.
• Training can include topics covering methodologies, principles and
practices related to Project Management.
• The training hours must be completed by the time the certification
application is submitted.
• Training is eligible regardless of when it was accrued.

7. The Application Process
• The form is online
• Once you start there is a 90 day period to complete the application
• Approximately a 5 day turn-around process if using online application
process
• 1 year to take the exam from the time of approval
• Take the exam up to 3 times in one year
• There is an audit process and if selected, there is a 90 day turn-around
period to complete it

9. Examination Fees
• While AACE membership is not required for certification, members
receive the benefit of reduced examination fees.
• US$500 for members
• US$625 for non-members
• US$250 resit fee (member and non-members)
• All fees are due upon submission of an application and are non-
refundable.
• The fee includes our eligibility documentation review and computer based
testing (CBT) fee.

10. The Exam
• 5 hours maximum
• 120 simple multiple choice and compound, scenario questions
• Closed Book – onscreen formula sheet(s) will be available for use
• Any style, battery operated calculator permitted (not provided by the
testing center)

12. Question Patterns
• Regular Questions: questions with four possible answers and only one
correct answer
• Multiple Answer Questions: questions with more than one correct answer,
and you need to select all the correct answers
• Drag and Drop style questions: questions where you need to move boxes
to align to a specific prompt. For example, “Match each process in Project
Stakeholder Management with its associated Process Group.”
• “Hot Spot Questions”: questions where you are interacting with data and
data points on a graph.
• Animation style questions: questions where you will see a short video,
and then answers questions about the scenario.

13. Exams Results
• An overall average score of 70% or higher is needed to pass the exam.
• The final exam result is arrived by averaging the score of all four
domains:
Ex: Domain 1: 69% (fail domain) + Domain 2: 70% (pass domain) +
Domain 3: 65% (fail domain) + and Domain 4: 76% (pass domain) / 4
domains = average score of 70% (pass the exam)
• CCP candidates must also separately receive a 70% or higher on the
CCP technical paper

14. Recertification
• CCP certification is valid for 3 years and must be recertified through
the accumulation of 12 CEUs in at least two categories or
reexamination
