Assumptions
• Input power of 250 kW is divided into 4 separate
gearboxes (62.5 kW each)
• Output speed desired to operate the vehicle at
70 mph, requires input speed ~700 rpm
• Gearcase will replace existing wheel bearing
assy
• Spur gears used due to low shaft speeds
• Design life of 10,000 hours based on
competitive gearboxes

• CAD models for the gears were generated as
well
• A rim thickness was also added to reduce
weight
• Extra teeth were added to Gear 4 and 6 for the
clutch assembly
