14. RATIONALE
This organization is conceptualized to help
younger generations of dying breed of Virac
Ibaloy to learn (ashalĕn), to commend
(ishayaw), and to uplift (isalekkad) the
Culture, Heritage and Indigenous Values (CHIVA)
taught by our forefathers.
The name CHIVA (acronym) is based from
the Ibaloy term, shiva/chiva, which literally
means - an oral account of origin, extraordinary
exploits of extraordinary people which have
values learnt from extraordinary experiences.
15. OBJECTIVES
The CHIVA NIVIRAC shall be
able to:
•To provide necessary
programmes and seminars to all
cooperative members concerning
Culture, Heritage and Indigenous
Values;
•To promote cultural and artistic
development;

the community’s historical
and cultural heritage;
•To preserve and integrate
traditional culture as part
of the ethnic cultural
mainstream;

relationships with other Ibaloy youth
