Textile recycling is the process by which old clothing and other textiles are recovered for reuse or material recovery. It is the basis for the textile recycling industry. ... The basis for the growing textile recycling industry is, of course, the textile industry itself.
5. TEXTILE WASTE
Pre-consumer (Production):
I. Waste originates from manufacturing of textiles products.
II. Textile off cuts from garmenting section
Defective rolls of fabric or leather items Post-Consumer:
I. Waste originates from consumers
II. Worn out textiles goods

6. Cotton farming is responsible for 24% of insecticides and 11% of pesticides
NPR reports, from the Environmental Protection Agency, that 15.1 million tons of
textile waste was generated in 2014, of which 12.8 million tons were discarded and
10.46 million tons were sent to the landfill
In 2013, the knit fabric cutting wastage was 12,512 tons that reached 16,356 tons in
2017. It is expected that the amount of solid waste will be 43,000 tons in 2025.
About 15% of fabric intended for clothing ends up on the cutting room floor.
On average, 23.8 billion pounds of Denim clothing ends up in landfills, each year.

7. TEXTILE RECYCLING
Textile recycling is the process by which old clothing and other textiles are recovered for reuse
100 percent of textiles and clothing are recyclable.
Consumers throw away clothing an average of 70 pounds per person, annually.
About 85% of this waste goes to landfills where Up to 95% of the textiles that are land filled each
year could be recycled

8. People normally discard old clothing. Here we have used an old different torn
cloth to make a mat. Such as T-shirt,Towel, Jeans, Jute-bag.

10. Step 1: Cut Denim Into Strips
Step 2: Cut triangular shape of strips
Step 3: Braid All triangular Strips Together

13. Protect the environment -Now a days Green house gas is increasing
day by day which is very dangerous for us. Recycle reduces
greenhouse gases & reduced pollution
Financial Benefits-
I. Make money selling from recycling
II. Community Financial Benefits
Build a strong Economy-
I. Lower waste management costs
II. Cheaper production materials

WHY RECYCLE ?
14. Recycle saves landfill space-Since 2009, only 16.2% of textiles
were recovered and kept out of landfills. At present in our country
we are able to recycle 93% of the waste we process without
producing any new hazardous waste or harmful by-products.

WHY RECYCLE ?
15. DISADVANTAGES OF RECYCLE CLOTHES
High upfront capital costs.
Recycling sites are always unhygienic, unsafe and unsightly
Products from recycled waste may not be durable.
Recycling might not be inexpensive
Recycling is not widespread on large scale

16. APPLICATION OF MAT
Aesthetics: For decorate purpose or furnishing
Entrance mats: Used in front of doors which helps removing dirt from shoes
Good for pets: Best place for pets to sleep
Bath mat: Used in bathroom floor . For a warm non-slip surface and absorbs water.
