the Nifty closed at 8,423.25, up 57.60 points.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor
Raghuram Rajan reportedly said on Tuesday
that inflation has come down tremendously in
India. The euro slid to a two-week low and a
rally in European shares stalled on
Wednesday after a Greek official said the
country may not make an upcoming
repayment to the International Monetary
Fund. On the currency front, the rupee closed
at 63.82 against the US dollar at the Interbank
Foreign Exchange due to appreciation of the
American currency overseas riding on strong
economic data.

Reliance Industries raises $200 million via
Taiwan bond sale
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has raised $200
million by selling long-term bonds to investors
in Taiwan, making it the first Indian firm to
complete such a sale. Bonds issued in Taiwan,
in currencies other than the New Taiwan Dollar,
are known as Formosa bonds, a market that has
been picking up fast due to the long-term funds
available for investment with the Taiwanese
insurers. RIL is the first company in Asia to tap
this market.
Alstom-NTPC JV gets Rs 206 cr GSECL
order
The Alstom - NTPC joint venture (JV) has
bagged a contract of Rs 206.7 crore from
Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited
(GSECL) to renovate and modernize two steam
turbines of Ukai and Wanakbori thermal power
stations in Gujarat. NASL (NTPC Alstom
Power Service Pvt) is a 50:50 joint venture of
NTPC and Alstom Power Systems GmbH
established in 1999 for undertaking renovation
and modernization of power plants in India.
