The HERMES project aims to improve connections between long-distance and local/regional transport networks by developing and analyzing new mobility schemes and organizational models. The project will analyze existing connections and evaluate interconnectivity at passenger terminals. It will identify key traveler requirements and services, as well as agreements needed to maintain a high level of service when transferring between networks. Prototypes for innovative service business models will be tested and demonstrated over six months in selected corridors. An handbook will be produced based on analysis and demonstration results.

2. Objectives
• HERMES project will provide:
• development and analysis of new mobility schemes and
associated organisational patterns at the interface and
interconnection between long distance transport networks and
local/regional transport networks.
• This project will analyse the existing connections and will further
evaluate the level of interconnectivity in the passenger terminals:
– where short and long-distance transport networks cross and
– where fluidity between crossing networks should ensure the
maintenance of the level of service when the passenger is
transferred from one to the other

3. Outcomes
• Identification of the key requirements of the travellers, the
corresponding services and necessary underlying company
agreements to provide them, followed by a business plan for the
operation.
• Prototypes (i.e. examples) for the business model of the innovative
services will be developed and further tested in case studies for
validation of its functional, economic and organizational aspects
• Demonstrations in the selected corridors for a period of at least 6
months of field experience.
• An handbook on based on the analytical part and on the
demonstration part of the project.
