2. INTRODUCTION
• As a teacher there is always the fear that you are copying too many things,
or that the copyright police are going to come knock down your door for
making copies of that 15 page packet. Luckily for educators there are two
acts that protect us and allow us to utilize the materials and make them
accessible to our students. They are…
3. THE TEACH ACT
• The TEACH Act or the Technology, Education, and Copyright
Harmonization Act was signed into effect in 2002 by President Bush. It was
a negotiation between publishers and academic institutions that improved
the copyright laws to help academic institutions make information more
accessible for educators and students.
4. COPYRIGHT AND
FAIR USE
• Known as the “Freedom and Innovation
Revitalizing United States Entrepreneurship
Act” of 2007 protects the taking of work to
introduce different ideas, learning, and
promote a culture.
• The attached video, explains and give various
up to date examples for the technological
society that we live in.

5. THE BACKGROUND KEY POINT #1
CREATING CULTURE USING THE FAIR ACT
• This act allows for the freedom to take a piece of work and create
something. The goal is create new thoughts and a culture around the
original piece, information, dance, movie, etc.
6. THE BACKGROUND
KEY POINT #2
TEACH ACT GOING
THE DISTANCE
• Students may participate
in distance learning
sessions from virtually
any location under the
teach act. This allows
educators to promote
knowledge and gains
throughout different
media means.
7. THE BACKGROUND KEY POINT
#3
TEACH ACT GETTING IT OUT
THERE
• Participants enjoy greater latitude when it comes to
storing, copying and digitizing materials. Allowing
teachers and students access to information, media,
and learning tools. It is also allowing teachers and
students to stay current with technology.
8. EXAMPLES HOW TEACHERS CAN USE
• Online classes and forums
• In class parodies, acting, writing, or drawing
• Providing samples for students to mark up
• Sharing videos and information through various forms of media
9. CONCLUSION
• While there is still some parameters that need to be followed when copying
information and sharing it to students, these two acts, which contain much
more information than the three points shared here, make accessibility to
educators and students much more easy.
