The document outlines the topics and arguments for three group debates:
1) Whether social media means governments can no longer suppress information. One side argues that social media allows free sharing of information and privacy, while the other side argues governments should restrict certain behaviors to prevent accidents.
2) Whether universities should use learning management systems like Moodle. One side argues these systems provide a free platform for education, while the other side has concerns about issues like shutdowns preventing access to class materials.
3) Whether 3D printing is the next industrial revolution. Both sides agree 3D printers are currently expensive and require design expertise. One side argues they enable makers, while the other argues widespread adoption faces material costs and availability issues

Debate on Social Media, LMS, and 3D Printing
1. Group Debate Assignment
-Talk you want to talk
Effective Scientific
Presentation Seminar
Group: Ming Chia, Chen
Hsi Yung, Chen
2. Topic 1
Does the rise of social media mean thatovernment can
no longer suppressinformation?
Does the rise of social media (e.g. ,
Facebook) mean that governments
can no longer suppress information?
What is social media?
What is the information privacy?
3. Comments
One Party: We can share information,
idea, experience and photo on the
Internet buy using social media.
Opposite Party: We should have laws
limit this activity.
4. Explanations (One Party)
The governments would not restrict the
people what they want to do on the
Internet, because the people have their
own information privacy.
The information privacy is that the
people can collect and disseminate data
what they want.
5. Explanations (Opposite Party)
The governments should make some
laws limit people’s behaviors if there
happens some accident in the future.
It is difficult for us to know who is fault
in an accident.
6. Examples (One Party)
Do you want to become the situation in
China?
In China, there is a GFW, Great
Firewall of China, overseeing all the
people anytime, anywhere.
7. Examples (Opposite Party)
Absolutely not!
If someone suicides because his friend
puts something crazy or abusive on the
public, but he is just kidding.
Who is this accident’s murderer?
8. Conclusions
One Party: The governments can make
some laws limit the people’s
information privacy, but just for illegal
things.
Opposite Party: The governments only
restrict the illegal behaviors. If you are
legal, you can do what you want to do.
9. Topic 2
LMS? Moodle? Should school use it?
Should all universities be using a
learning management system such as
Moodle or Schoology?
What can learning management system
(LMS) help us in education?
10. Comments
One Party: The learning management
system is a platform for reporting,
sharing, discussing and voting in
education.
Opposite Party: I always uploaded my
reports and downloaded the class
material by the learning management.
11. Explanations (One Party)
I think we can use this platform without
paying any money.
Why don’t we want to use it?
12. Explanations (Opposite Party)
I don’t really think it is necessary for
students to use this platform.
My reason is it is not belonging to the
university.
If there is any message or information,
it will not inform the students instantly.
13. Examples (One Party)
I think it is convenient for us to use it to
hand-in the homework and discuss with
classmates.
Without that, I have no idea how to
handing my homework to professor.
14. Examples (Opposite Party)
Have you ever encounter the moment
when the platform was shut down?
For example, the usage capacity is over
the limit capacity, and the server is shut
down.
15. Conclusions
One Party: I think the platform
designer should revise the website
structure again, otherwise, the students
won’t know the detail.
Opposite Party: The university should
use the platform which can sent email
instantly, or the students are confused
about the date and details.
16. Topic 3
3D-printer Next industrial revolution?
Is 3D PRINTING the next industrial
revolution?
If it is right, what will be happened?
If it is not, why?
17. Comments (One party)
I think IoT (Internet of
Thing) is popular now, so
there are many makers.
The makers build the device
case by using 3D printer.
The makers should design
the model before printing
the device.
18. Comments (Another party)
Maybe the 3D printer can print a lot of
things, but the most important is the
material.
Where can we get this material?
19. Explanations
One party: The 3D printer is the
machine is the first one expensive, and
the material is not cheap.
Another Party: The 3D printer is very
expensive too, and it is impossible for
every family to have one 3D printer at
home.
20. Conclusions (One Party)
The designer should have some
knowledge and experience about
designing the case.
People don’t know how to use the
professional software.
Maybe the new industrial revolution is
AI (artificial intelligence), not 3D
printer.
21. Conclusions (Another Party)
There is 3D printer only in the
university or research professional
fields, because of its price.
For everyone, it is hard to know how to
use the 3D printer in detail.
Due to AlphaGO, I think AI (artificial
intelligence) is the next revolution.
