While reflecting on my time at the Chief Petty Officer's Academy (CPOA), three elements of learning most impacted my persona and changed me as a
leader. These elements of learning include both class room presentations and personal interactions with fellow attendees. The three elements of learning
that will be discussed in this paper are 360 peer review report, understanding generational gaps, and recognition that everyone has different experiences

This presentation was interesting to me because I have done my own studies on the subject in order to become a better leader and father. The most
interesting aspect of the conversation was the input from others in the class. It was nice to know that others were feeling the same way that I was
when attempting to relate to the up and coming generation. My roommate put it best to me in the form of an analogy; a professional coach in sports
does not ask their players to conform to their rule, they conform to what works for the players. This analogy helped me understand that I need to be

I interviewed the human resource team member, Sonya, who is assigned to my department at work. She was involved with or conducted 360
degree appraisals up until roughly six months ago when she started with the current company. I spoke with Sonya about what exactly she
considered a 360 degree appraisal. She told me that customarily nearly all of the information covered in the performance area is leadership,
teamwork, communication skills, and adaptability to new situations or last minute assignments. While we were talking about this she did go over
some of the differences between 180 degree appraisals and the 360 degree ones. One of the main differences that she pointed out is that 360
degree involves customer feedback that goes along with the leaders and teammates. Sonya did have some mixed feeling regarding 360 degree
appraisals and feedback, in which will be discussed later, nonetheless Sonya feels that if done correctly, they can provide excellent feedback as well
as being motivating for all employees. One point that was noted is that she feels there actually is no perfect process for appraisals and that every
company needs to look at their individual requirements when determining the best way to receive and give feedback. When conducting 360 degree
appraisals she also is partial to having some competency– based job evaluations. Advantages of 360 Degree Appraisals Sonya feels that the advantages
of 360 degree appraisals do outweigh the disadvantages for many companies. One of the core advantages that she brought up was the fact that a
leader cannot be on site 24/7 to observe every person. When you have multiple individuals who are able to provide feedback it allows the leader or
HR representative providing the feedback to understand if there are differences in how employees act when the leader is around versus when the
leader is not around. Sonya stated that she saw it many times where the leader would say how well an employee was doing but the employees
coworkers would come back with a different evaluation and after looking into it some the employee was basically putting on a show for the leader.

story. Rhy is very descriptive about all of the surroundings in the story. She makes sure to leave out no details regardless if the reader realizes it or

In the third paragraph I realized that the narrator is the same girl in the story. The second sentence says, "The only thing was that the sky had a
glassy look that she didn't remember" (358). Rhy reiterates the importance of the "glassy sky", by saying that "glassy" "was the only word she
could think of" (358). The sky is "glassy" now because she is dead and that is why she did not remember it. The narrator is on the other side of that
"glassy sky" telling the story of "the first time she knew" (359). As she walked along she noticed that the road leading to her house had been

The pine tree was no longer there, nor was the summerhouse. However, exactly as she remembered, the clove tree remained. She noticed that the

Evil is a word that is rooted in thoughts, and actions. The concept of evil is a convoluted force. In Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, morals are
reexamined through each tale. Chaucer discusses moral evil and its relevance to innocence, specifically in the Pardoner's Tale, with the three rakes,
and in the Prioress Tale, with the young boy. The seducing of innocence to become dishonorable is evil. All things wicked start from innocence.
Innocence is beautiful. The three rakes and the young boy illustrate the most simplest form of innocence which reserves the revelation of evil. In
the Pardoner's Tale, the three rakes insist on discovering who "smote the man's heart in two" (Chaucer 355). The murder, Death is dangerous and
the rakes courageously took this opportunity to help themselves and others from the danger. This demonstrates the rakes ability to want to improve
other people's lives while also showcasing the righteousness they contain. The murderer, Death, "shall be slain" and the three men "pledged their
word of honor to live and die for the other,/ as though each were the other's brother born" (357). Chaucer demonstrates the virtue these men have for
themselves and for each other. Although, they drink too much they still embody supportive and honorable friends. The hope that "death shall be
dead, if they catch him" (357) depicts the beauty in their hopes and innocence. The beauty of the widow's son, seven years of age, in the Prioress
Tale, paints the unknown virtue during the walk to and from school. The mother has always teaches her son "to worship our blissful Lady,/ Christ's
dear Mother, and he did not forget it" (373). Chaucer proves that innocent children "will always learn quickly" (373). The young child studies his
book and he heard the Alma redemptoris being sung. The young child innocent and interested, "listened to the words and notes/ until he knew the first
verse all by heart" (373). However, the innocent boy does "not at all what this Latin meant,/since he was of so young and tender an age" (375).
Chaucer makes known that this young boy is intelligent and innocent as he listens to his mother and is curious for his age. The innocence in the rakes
and the young boy is beautiful and tender,

going need to run because he is a hunted fugitive. Even though he is hurt and people are also coming after him, he is on the run. The conflict is
that Callum crashed a plane and he is trying to get to a little town called Big River near the plane crash when he is hurt. In the story Callum gets his
great uncle's plane that he has been working on. Then he gets on the plane and he flies to a place near Big river where he crashed landed. He needs to
get to the little town before the guys that want him get him because he is a hunted fugitive. He gets to the town and tells his friend what happened.
